During his two-month residency at Spring Workshop, artist Christodoulos Panayiotou (b. 1978, Limassol, Cyprus) embarked on a project in China’s Guangdong province, researching what has become home to the world’s largest concentration of artificial flower factories. Upon Panayiotou’s invitation to collaborate, artist Philip Wiegard (b. 1977, Schwetzingen, Germany) engaged 32 children aged 8 to 15 in an 11-day workshop where they created handmade wallpaper in a series of patterns developed from a historic artisanal technique that makes use of the children’s unique physiological attributes.
