Aspiring writer and filmmaker Perry Janes came to Device with a limited budget and a need for materials to promote the film ZUG at festivals. The concept for the posters, handbills and buttons illustrates how the mysterious Zug Island—home to abandoned industrial complexes and steel mills of Detroit—gets into the heads of Donovan and Lee, the film’s main characters. The boys are manipulated by classmates to sneak inside ZUG, testing the validity of several infamous urban legends while discovering their own identities.
“The limited run of posters and handbills were screen-printed in our public access printshop,” says the design duo at Device. “By personally hand printing small quantities, we were able to stay within a limited budget and still offer a unique design with high-quality printing.”
