Ireland-based freelance illustrator, and recent graduate from the University for the Creative Arts in Maidstone, Ian O’Shea began a series of drawings and sketches during a recent trip to New York. Not long afterward he made them into a set of notecards. He completed a second set in London during the 2012 Olympic Games. His reportage style draws on the atmosphere and the mood of the location which he conveys through drawing and mark-making with minimal but selective color. The illustrations are a mix of ink pen, chalk and acrylic paint, printed on standard 10 x 14cm cardstock. Most importantly everything is drawn on location. His sketchbook is already filling with his next set—Dublin.
