Santa Monica, California-based branding and design studio Geyrhalter & Company just completed a redesign of the graphics in twenty Goodwill stores in Orange County, California. The Find/Give theme of the redesign focuses on Goodwill customers being able to “find” great deals while they “give” back to people in Goodwill’s job training and placement programs. The new signage system, floor graphics and on-rack messaging system doubles as a wayfinding system to enhance the shopping experience. The vibrant color scheme and simple messaging engages shoppers while functioning as a reminder of Goodwill’s programs.
Through the rest of the year, the Goodwill stores will be implementing additional new designs, courtesy of fourteen students of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Fabian Geyrhalter, owner and creative director of Geyrhalter & Company, is a former Art Center alumni and instructor and created the match between the school and the organization. The three-month challenge asked students to build on the new shopping experience using recycled materials (wood, computer parts, textiles and industrial items) found in Goodwill stores.
