Communication Arts magazine announces the winners of its 53rd Annual
Illustration Competition. This prestigious competition selected 176
winning projects out of 4,051 entries submitted from around the world.
The 2012 Illustration Jury was enthusiastic about the work they saw. Here are some snippets:
SooJin Buzelli: “It feels to me that illustration is exploding! I see more and more commercials and products using illustration.”
Jill Breitbarth: “A feeling of freshness popped up most often in the editorial pieces. A quick look was all that was needed to convey complex ideas…there were some real coups.”
James Zucco: “I’m excited to see how illustrators will continue to mash-up digital techniques with traditional, hand-drawn ones.”
The award-winning work is also beautifully reproduced in the May/June 2012 issue of Communication Arts, which includes feature articles on Helms Workshop, Andrew Zuckerman, Juniper Park and Method.
