As part of its redesign of the swatchbooks for Neenah’s CLASSIC paper line (Crest, Linen, Columns, Laid) Washington DC’s Design Army created “Perfect10n,” a promo that showcases the ten colors and two finishes that cross the entire line. Documented in a making-of video, the concept is a play off things that are either perfect (“a ten”) or are related to the number ten; “The Perfect 10” provided the foundation for getting designers and specifiers excited and “Perfect10n” provided the launching pad. Slightly oversized to stand out on the shelf, the piece is tangible rather than pretty; a book that inspires and gets specifiers to pick up the paper.

Silver foil catches the eye, a visual staircase of colors presents all ten colors at once and the cover paper (Classic Crest Stipple finish in Epic Black) is the latest addition to the line. On the inside, the pages transform things that are already ideal by presenting them in unique ways: A young man decked out in ten colors is a simple, fun and logical intro; a beautiful model, with traced-out hair offers an unexpected take on a classic image and allows the surface of the papers to shine; and the bold numbers in a top ten countdown, combining a colored paper with its custom match color ink, cites the reasons why the line opens up design opportunities and possibilities.
