With the growing popularity of Facebook comes an ever-expanding need for energy. Greenpeace recently called on international production company, Savage, to create this 30-second spot asking Facebook to “Unfriend Coal.” With limited screen time Motion504 created visual effects and 3-D/2-D animation that clearly and effectively communicate the Greenpeace message. A Facebook Web page is crushed back through the infrastructure to a lump of coal, and a final animation shows a hand spinning the Earth to produce wind turbines while the sun glows over the scene. It’s an effective combination of short, powerful strokes to tell a long, complicated story, coupled with a final light-handed touch.
