With its leather chairs, brick walls and the aroma of aftershave, there’s no mistaking Ray’z Barber Shop for a unisex salon. The owner wanted an identity that was masculine, retro and edgy. Beginning with a logo incorporating a scissors into the Ray’z name, The Gunter Agency (New Glarus, Wisconsin) designers also created signage and a basic attitude for the shop’s advertising materials. The look-and-feel also carried over to the glass and wrought iron signs on the exterior of the building.
