Verge Brooklyn Art Fair /// Looking Back

We are happy to report (albeit belatedly) that we had a great experience at the Verge Brooklyn Art Fair that took place in early March simultaneously with New York’s Armory Week.a

The Verge Brooklyn Art Fair, which is basically The Bridge Art Fair reincarnated, has never been an event that follows conventions. It was quite a brave move to work with the Brooklyn Art Council and Two Trees Management in putting together Brooklyn’s first art fair to compete with Armory Week‘s heavy hitters in Manhattan. The DUMBO area in Brooklyn already has a very strong, high-end arts culture, and the arts are thriving more than ever all over the world right now, so in a big way it made a lot of sense to organize this fair this particular year.

Alongside our booth with Anagnorisis Fine Arts were galleries from around the world (we bonded a bit with Firecat Projects and Arch 402) along with a couple of non-profit organizations (CUE Art Foundation and MoCADA), all hoping to take advantage of what DUMBO has to offer. Verge wound up being a terrific way to meet new potential conspirators (so to speak!) and discover new opportunities to help our members thrive. We were also elated to have sold works to some new collectors with whom we are developing relationships. I guess this is the primary reason we got the booth in the first place, right?

It was, of course, most enjoyable to meet some of the artists who have been long time members of the Brooklyn Art Project. Many sought out our booth while others were surprised to find us. We got some great feedback about the site and about our booth, talked about the rest of the fair and what the future holds.

We are, overall, very happy with the experience!
