The Heights Players are turning Japanese this month, bringing Gilbert and Sullivan’s 1885 comic opera The Mikado to delightful and uproarious life.
The plot of The Mikado, or The Town of Titipu, unravels like a soap opera (albeit a consciously absurd one). A labyrinthine tale of love, governmental corruption and murder, it follows the citizens of the fictional Japanese town Titipu — which is about to be shaken up beyond their wildest dreams.
