DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — Stark blue construction barriers seem to be everywhere in Downtown Brooklyn, but on Duffield, Bridge and Lawrence streets, three of them have been replaced with colorful public art as part of the “City Walls” mural project.

Pedestrians admire the paintings and tourists pause to take photos, says Cathy Hickey, director of retail and commercial development for the MetroTech Business Improvement District (BID), which sponsored the project.
